Cyber security is one of those fields that has very few women. The number is actually estimated at 20%
of the cyber security work force. Many factors have contributed towards this. A stereotype has long been held that the STEM space is a man’s space. There has also been the perception that STEM subjects are too technical and complex for women to handle. over time we have seen this narrative shift and more women take up STEM subjects. However, various challenges still exist that make it somewhat more difficult for women to grow at the same pace as their male colleagues. The image below depicts some of these issues. We have included success stories from some of the ladies who are shattering glass ceilings and excelling in cyber security careers. Please feel free to access those stories here for your encouragement and motivation.
